Going on 3 days now, must have slept wrong. Icy hot not working, heating pad, no relief. Even the thermo heat pads you place right on the area have done nothing.

Any suggestions? I have pains going down into my shoulder and arm.

I am not having a stroke, I guess it is a pinched nerve.

I can not get any relief, thought someone might have had this at some time.

That or a bulging disc..you need to have it checked out, it only gets worse.

Yup. It either has to work itself out or you need physical therapy. I get that on both sides, due to bone spurs on the neck.

Heat pacs a couple times a day, not longer than 30 minutes. If it's not better in a few days, get an x-ray.

Could be tension...

Sit in a chair, Place your arms to your side and hands under the chair for grip, now pull slowly but firmly, move your head around in circles again slowly stretching out the neck. (helps me sometimes)

I had something similar happen to me about a year ago. I was fine when I went to bed but when I woke up the back of my neck was was burning and aching. I was scared at first but realized it was probably a pulled muscle or something. I vaguely remember stretching and feeling a tugging sensation some time during the night but there was no pain until I got up in the morning. OMG..it was awful. I could not get comfortable any kind of way to even be able to sleep. I tried sitting up on the sofa with pillows and nothing helped. I still went to work and used the Ben Gay patches. They did help quite a lot. I was not able to get comfortable enough to sleep well for about 4 days. The pain gradually subsided after about a week but not totally until about a month. Geez..I would rather go through childbirth again instead of that kind of pain.

My mother had the same thing and she went to the doctor and come to find out she had two cracked vertabrae, C5 and C6. If it had been C4 or higher she could have been a quadraplegic! Get it checked out by a bone doctor. Like Southern Maryland Sports Medicine. My doctor is Dr. Turner and she is bone specialist. Good Luck! :howdy:

Is she the massage person? If so, I soooo know what I'm doing on my birthday or Monday......

Yes, it is a group of licensed therapists that know what they are doing unlike those .... well, other places....

I had the same problem last week and they saved me instead of PT 3x/week or other therapy.

And I got to enjoy it.

Im having the same pain as I type this, Ive had it since mid September and finally just went to the doc on Tuesday (im not big on going to Drs.). It bothered me when I slepted on that side, the pain is in the shoulder, neck and sometimes the arm. I was thinking pinched nerve also, doc gave me a muscle relaxer, and a prescription for a anti-inflamatory and to put icy/hot on it. Said to see what that does for it and if no improvement in 2 to 3 weeks, then we may have to have xrays or scanned to see whats up and phyiscal therapy . He also mentioned a warm/hot moist towel on the area several times, but I just dont have the time for that.
After 3 days since the doctor visit, I do feel a bit better, but have lots of yardwork coming up in the next few days, by Sunday evening Ill know if what the doc prescribed is working.

Thanks everyone, going to Dr today. The pain is UFB and I can't take it no more. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. So, I will let you know later what they tell me.

Have a great weekend, I'll post later.
