a good one is going to cost you over a grand easily...

i've heard and seen bad Maaco paint jobs. don't expect it to last or be a new car finish. you can get a better price (and a bit better paint finish) done by maaco if you spend a lot of time and do the prep work yourself. this goes for all budget paint jobs...

you get what you pay for essentially...

are you looking to get a "professional" "show quality" paint job, or a "good from far, far from good" paint job?

That's a really loaded question, and it all depends on what type of paint job you're looking for. I'm about to repaint a car myself, and the materials (2k epoxy primer, high build primer, 2 stage base coat and clear coat) My materials are going to run about $2,400 ALONE. I'm painting the car myself; to send it out I would expect a shop to charge me $4-6k. I'm not getting a superb paint job, but it's going to be decent quality. For a great paint job, I could easily spend $8k-10k. It all depends on how far you're going, how good of paint you want, how long you want it to last, etc. If you want a cheap job to hold up for a year or two, go to MAACO. They're cheap, and will paint a car for less than $1,000. You do get what you pay for, though.

In My Opinion
the place that does my body work (on my cars) will tell you minimum of 4 grand for a total color change.

but then, when they do it, it comes out looking like you just pulled it off the showroom floor.

I did get a MAACO,, or was it Earl,, on a car back in the mid 70s,
looked great when I picked it up, Gold metal flake.

two weeks later I was going down rt 50 toward OC running about 80mph and the hood peeled. not like a little flake coming off mind you, but half that damn hood peeled right down to primer, one big sheet of paint flew off.
Im not sure but Im thinking that maybe it wasnt that good of a job to start with.
