This was being talked about on the radio this morning. I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on this. Try not to let your thoughts be clouded by the fact we're talking about PG County here. I'm just wondering about the big picture in how far any municipality should go to make sure the rules are followed.
My initial thought is that the parents had since before school started in August to get this taken care of so this type of action by the govt is targeting lazy or dead beat parents. There were other points brought up this morning about the unknown risks that some people think that immunizations might be the cause of things like Autism and Alzheimer’s. My reaction to that is that unleaded gas fumes or anything else out there might be the cause of Autism and Alzheimer’s. In other words it’s pure speculation but it’s a fact that immunizations prevent disease. What do you think???? For the parents who show up on Satuday, there will be free immunizations available for their children.

Parents Face Jail Time If Kids Aren't Immunized
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- What does Prince George's County have to do to make sure your kids get immunized?
Prince George's County State's Attorney Glen Ivey says jail and fines are options.
"I guess it's kind of a carrot and the stick kind of scenario," Ivey says. "The school system has gone out of its way to provide immunizations and multiple options to get this taken care of. But, you know, I'm the stick. If it doesn't get done, there definitely sanctions that are available, and I'll pursue them if necessary."
Roughly 2,300 students are missing school because they haven't received their mandatory immunizations against chicken pox and hepatitis B. "My goal is to get the kids back in school, not put parents in jail."
