Hey everybody ! My son is turning 16 soon and he wants a party ... so I thought I would ask you all , hoping you could give me some good ideas, recommendations, feedback etc... in regards to available places in this area < california > that would be suitable for a teenager's party , also can anyone recommend a good disc jockey ? We have a great rec room in our basement that would be perfect except I don't think our neighbors would appreciate his and his friends' choices in music or the volume they prefer it to be ...lol... PLEASE HELP !!

if you will
Is he too old for that video game place up in Hollywood? I forget the name right now, but I drive by it every day, up by Sotterly/Burch Oil on Rt 235.... They must do parties.

You're thinking of Hyperspace. The arcade area is mainly geared for the middle school crowd, with the exception of the laser tag area. I've done that a time or 2, and had a ball!

I wonder if they'd let you rent the teen center for an evening? We rented a clubhouse up here for my daughter's 16 - cost $60 for the whole night and was worth every penny.

It says:

The Hollywood Teen Club is available for party rentals and special events by calling Cynthia Greene at 301-373-5410.

Rane, what about a cookout in the backyard? We did that for one of my son's birthdays and it worked really well. Put up a volleyball net, get some hamburgers and hot dogs and let 'em go.

Thanks everybody so far for all the great ideas so far ! Gives me a few options to decide on ... Sxy ... I wish I could give him some $$$ and take him to the mall ...lol... would be easier for me but he specifically asked for a party... with music ... but I'll bet he'll be asking to go to the mall soon after the party esp when birthday cards / money rolls in ...geez , it was sooo much easier when he was younger ( before hormones kicked in ) I did several "slip n slide with a cookout" kind of parties for him when we lived in florida , had a blast ! If anyone thinks of anything else please do post . Thanks again for all the great suggestions

When I turned 16 my grandma let me sleep in the rafters of the garage with a bb gun and a boomerang. It was awesome! I slept up there for three whole days and shot a bird and ate some cupcakes. I would have stayed up there for a whole week but I slipped out and hit a shovel and lost part of my left ear. I think this is an awesome thing for a birthday. It would also be cool to sleep in the crawl space.
