Patriotism.......

Working for the weekend
I was a first hand witness yesterday........ :patriot: I went to pick up my step-son, after being gone for one year and three weeks. They were due to arrive at 10 am, but unfortunately one of the buses got hit by lightning, and that pushed their arrival time back until 3. So, trying to pass the time, I walked around and mingled with the crowd. I spoke with moms who were pregnant when their hubby's left, holding small toddlers. I spoke to proud grandfathers who also fought in previous wars waiting for their grandsons to arrive, other moms that were news addicts like me, brothers, sisters and friends of our soldiers. It really made me realize what families sacrifice for our country. Children were running around everywhere, everyone waiting patiently. When the buses finally arrived, cheers rang out and small children jumped up and down. Hubbies saw their children for the first time, parents were reunited with their children, it was a beautiful sight. Tears flowed from every soldier and every family member........it was a something I will never forget.

Please let your step-son know that more people support him and the mission than the MSM lets on. I thank him. I would love to shake his hand, and give him a well deserved hug.

This first hand account was awesome!

There can be no better reward than basking in the freedom one has fought for, earned and defended. :yay:

NOT Politically Correct!!
After serving 24 years in the Military, I could never hold back a tear seeing my family after months on many, many deployments. Family support was always key...

Just saw this.

That is an awesome recount! Whenever I see a man or woman in uniform, I do try to let them know how much their service to our country is appreciated. :patriot:

I remember so many years ago when I worked in retail.......if a service man or woman was going to buy alcohol and had their Military ID ready, I never checked it. If you're old enough to die for your country, you should be old enough to drink in it.

Agreed. But it's hard to tell who they are without a uniform. But the ones I do see, or know of, I tell them the same thing.

We all need to let our service men and women how much we support them in our hearts and minds everyday.

Without them protecting the front lines, we'd be in deep trouble here at home.

Me too. Harleygirl, you told that so well. Thank you for reminding us all how important our service men and women are to this country and how much their families have to sacrifice.

I have so much respect for the people in the military and their families. Being in there, you have to endure so much. The families have to endure alot too. Every moment in your life is a moment you can never get back. Every moment that they are serving, they can never get back. I am grateful that people are willing to spend those moments out of their lives, protecting us :patriot:
