The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Investigation Response Team is investigating after two officers discharged their firearms, striking a dog that was attacking a man this morning in Capitol Heights.

On November 30, 2020, at approximately 4:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 100 block of Daimler Drive for the report of a dog attack.

The preliminary investigation revealed the responding officers observed the dog pinning the victim to the ground on the porch of a home. The officers were able to distract the dog. The dog turned its attention to the officers and lunged at them. The officers used a patrol shield as protection, but the dog’s attack damaged the shield. The dog then charged at the officers a second time. Fearing for their safety, both officers discharged their duty weapons, fatally wounding the dog. The victim of the dog attack suffered minor injuries. The officers were not hurt.

As is our standard operating procedure, officers will be placed on administrative leave pending standard, post-shooting requirements. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call the Special Investigative Response Team at (301) 516-5721.

Prince George’s County Animal Control is handling the investigation into the dog itself and the circumstances surrounding the incident. They can be reached at 301-780-7200.

I hope the dog they shot is white in color. Any other hue and there might be riots.

Have the officers been sent to the Psychological Services Unit and placed on Administrative Leave yet??? Are these blood thirsty white supremacist's still on the streets with their military style assault fully semi automatic AK48 revolvers?? Has the County Attorney given reparations to the dogs owner yet? A good fighting dog can "fetch" a "hunnered" for each fight! Were minorities and children affected? What about the globalization impact of lead and fibers being introduced into our precious eco-system during the murder??
See?? a good reporter would ask these questions.
