ACCEPTING a school camp dare proved fatal for Sydney student Hamidur Rahman.

The 13-year-old, who had a serious allergy to peanuts, was dared to eat a single mouthful of peanut butter during a camp trivia game challenge on March 20, 2002.

Hamidur, who was among 140 Year 8 students on excursion from Hurlstone Agricultural High School to Yanco in south-western New South Wales, suffered a fatal anaphylactic reaction after eating the peanut butter.

That is very sad. A friend of a friend died years ago after eating chili at a cookoff and not knowing the secret thickening ingredient in it was peanut butter. :frown:

She chose not to tell her colleague about the peanut warning when Hamidur became ill.

Instead, she ran to a duty officer's room to ensure access for an ambulance.

"It didn't seem something that was important to say at the time," Ms Jackson told the court.
Dum. Chit.

And no posting whole articles, please, or Nicole Azzopardi will send us a mean letter (really).

Accidents happen, without them we do not learn.

As for me, I love peanut butter and eat it every chance I get.

I do not disagree BUT with modern media and the internet you hear about more stupid stuff than you used to. It still used to happen but it wasn't spread via news as much. Look at this case, we are importing stupid human stories from Australia. Must have been an uneventful day in Mississippi so they had to go to another continent.
