PGPD Pedestrian Dies of Injuries from Collision

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit has assumed the investigation into a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in the town of Capitol Heights. The victim is 51-year-old Jose Hernandez Salvador of Washington, DC.

On August 14, 2024, at approximately 2:25 pm, officers with the Capitol Heights Police Department responded to the area of Davey Street and Southern Avenue for a pedestrian collision.

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a pickup truck was attempting to turn onto Davey Street, and for reasons that are under investigation, struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries on August 17, 2024. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene.

The PGPD investigates all fatal crashes in the town of Capitol Heights.
