Almost everyone in my neighborhood had a dog or two. There is one family that has three or I should say HAD three. One dog was extremely well trained and well behaved - a true joy and a real beauty. The other two are nice dogs but yappy and untrained. I just found out they got rid of the good dog. He was a harlequin great dane. The reason? "He got too big." Imagine that! A GREAT DANE GOT TOO BIG! I guess they thought it would be a lap dog. :dur: :loser:

Years ago, when I volunteered at the Montgomery County Humane Society, a guy brought in a Great Pyrenees. We interviewed him about giving up the dog and the reason he gave is that the dog got too big.

My grandparents have a GP and I just love her! She's the biggest, most cuddliest baby you could find. GREAT dogs! :yay:

They took him to the shelter.

Most shelters will contact breed-specific rescues if they get a purebred dog. Lots of the rescuers also comb the shelters looking for dogs. Let's hope our Dane friend found him.

I didn't think of that! I'll PM her. Thanks.

farkn' idiots. That shiat pizzes me off. When you buy a pet - its a responsibility and you stick with the pet, good, bad, for worse or indifferent. Makes no sense. Pets, like kids are not "disposable". Reading cases like this just tic me off to no end :cussing:

All I know about them is they are big and fast and the guy next to me in the sandbox during Bailey and I's spoon race had one pulling him the entire way and they beat us and put us in a close second place

But I couldn't be all that mad, he'd adopted it from Las Vegas... as the EMC said... he's heard about losing alot in Vegas, but as big as that dog was, how can only lose THAT!

Lori from Great Dane rescue is looking for him. If she finds him, I'll have her contact you. A beautiful dog and exceptionally well behaved.

Thanks. I looked into rescuing a Great Dane puppy (Lexie who is 6 months old) but I live in a townhouse and do not have a fenced in yard. Adoptions seem to be requiring a fenced in yard these days. The dog would be loved more than my other half

My coworker has 13 Great Danes. :shocking: Occasionally on the way home from a vet appt, she'll bring one by, and they are the most well behaved dogs I've ever come into contact with. Even the 6 month old behaved himself.
