what people food is safe for dogs. I know so far bruno loves chicken she loves rice and she loves snap peas anything else a dog will love. I think I am going to make her a homemade meal to eat for dinner tonight as she won't touch the wetfood and she won't touch the dryfood I am at a loss with this dog ugh :(. I can't sit here and watch her starve herself because if she doesn't eat she throws up bile all over the place and I can't have that.

You will go broke trying to feed her the type of "people" food that would need to be nutritionally sound. You would have to add supplements also. Stop letting the dog rule you. If you want to make her food more attractive to her, start cooking some vegetables..green beans, peas, carrot, broccoli and give her a cup of that with a good quality kibble. Give her yogurt with her morning meal.

Why does she throw up if she doesn't eat?

Catt I guess she throws up because she has nothing in her stomach and she gets nausea and it makes her puke I don't know though what the real reason is. I can't even get her to eat a can of wetfood today :(. I am at a loss. I don't want the dog to go hungry and be sick on me at 1pm today. I guess I can try giving her a can of chicken dogfood and see if she will eat that as she turns her nose up to the beef. I guess she likes chicken better lol.

Didn't you get advice in the thread you posted yesterday? You said you were going to put some chicken in her food. What happened to that?

Pen her up and let her puke.

Buy some chicken broth or chicken gravy, warm slightly in microwave and pour some over the dry or wet food whatever and mix it up, may try adding some green beans with the food before hand also. I use to put a little garlic liquid over the food for my dogs also. Hope this helps

I'm not up to date on this, apparently there's another thread...has the pooch been to the vet to address the vomiting to rule out anything serious?

For real. The dog will eat when she's hungry. If she doesn't eat the food in 20 minutes, pick it up and she'll learn she'll either eat or have to wait until the next feeding.

We did this with my mom's rescue. She was disgustingly obese...and hated the diet food..wouldn't even sniff it. She held out for about 4 days or so..and then started eating. She looks much better now :) Just keep picking it up..and she will learn she better eat. She won't die.

One thing I've learned over the past few years.....kids and dogs won't starve to death if they miss a dinner. :jet:

Garilc is a no no with dogs. It can destroy red blood cells and cause anemia. The dog will eventually eat when she realizes she is not going to win with you. Your dog WILL NOT starve to death. She is walking all over you and you are letting her do it. Read all the advice that was given to you yesterday and actually try it. Why ask for it if you won't take it?

This was recommended to me when my dog did the same thing by our vet at the time Dr. Veitch, 3 notch. He did fine, you only use a little of the broth or liquid garlic at a time. He lived to be 13 years old. After a few time doing this he would eat his regular food again, also we feed him science diet wet and dry.

i did take the advice that was given. I tried putting chicken in her food. she picked out the pieces of chicken and left the dogfood to sit. I can't afford to have her starve herself to death. I love the dog too much. Plus cleaning up yellow bile off of white carpet isn't fun as the stain doesn't come out :( and i just rent i don't own so i will have to pay for new carpet if that starts happening.
