Per hr wage needed to rent 2-bedroom apt by state

A new report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition examines how these opposite trends play out regionally. The work maps how much an American worker needs to earn per hour in each state to rent a two-bedroom apartment. It finds that in no state can a person earning minimum wage afford such an apartment at market rent.

Okay. No one person should be expected to afford the rent on a 2-bedroom apartment by themselves. If you are the sole income you either get a roommate that has income or you rent a studio apartment or even a single room until you work your way up the food chain. This is stupid.

Who said everyone has a right to a 2 bedroom apartment? I rented space in someone's laundry room in the basement of a townhouse while I finished school. Was in my 30's and done with school by the time I had a 2 bedroom apartment.

I'd like to see that study breakdown cities in those states to see what kind of wage would be necessary for the same accommodations.

And what exactly do you think will happen to the amount of rent charged for a 2-bedroom in areas where minimum wages are increased and there becomes more demand for those 2-bedroom apartments because of more folks being able to afford them.... hmmmmmmm?

Me thinks there will be way fewer minimum wage earners with increased salary, making even more people unable to afford the rent.
