Pet Water Fountain

Blah.. Blah...Blah
My cats are wierd. They like to drink out of cups and my toliet.... So I went to Petco and bought a PetMate pet water fountain. I can't keep my cats away from it. Just curious if anyone else uses it, and If you had any problems with it.

I used to use it..but cats kept playing in it and getting dirt, fur and toys floating in it...
Finally took it away...
Also amount of water is not a lot even with add on container...
But they had fun with it!!

Better water unit is one with air bubbles...no filter, huge resevour tank and you can adjust the amount of air coming out of tubes...

We use it for our dogs. We've had it for about 4 years now (we have the larger one) and the only thing I don't like about it is it's hard to clean so therefore it looks yellow. Also, dog hair and other stuff gets in the water bowl area, but that's no different than if it were a regular bowl.

It is a pain to clean. I change the filter every other month. I also bought a baby bottle brush to clean the hard to reach areas.

Our Feline/Canine Hydration Unit is located in each of our bathrooms. They deliver an endless supply of clean, cold water to 2 huge labs and three cats.
Obviously, regular flushing and the use of a tank sanitizer tablet is recommended with this method. But it works for us, and our vet who does the same thing.

I would never put anything in the toliet if I knew or thought my animals were drinking from it. Cleaner / sanitizer products cant be good for pets.

I understand your concern, and I wouldn't use one if it hadn't been approved by my vet and on the label as safe for pets.

The same thing thats used in RV and other portable water tank systems. They are chlorine and bleach free. All they do is inhibit mold and bacteria growth.

It had a label that said safe for pets? What is the name of it. I just assumed that I couldnt put anything in the potty. You mean to tell me I can have a spotless toliet like other people. And pup can drink from it?

My kitties loved it, too. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks it started leaking water EVERYWHERE, which is not compatible with hardwood floors. :ohwell:

Now they settle for a bowl of water and getting a nightly drink of water from the sink in the master bedroom. It's quite the routine.
