Pets on Wheels?

Anybody here associated with Pets On Wheels? My daughter called them a couple of weeks ago about joining them and hasn't heard back yet. I realize they are volunteers with a life, but we are wondering if she had the right number.

No, Paso, I was thinking about taking the cow...she's good on a leash but her housetraining isn't too good. And she drools.

Goats are like deer and are browsers. They'll eat poison ivy and all kinds of brush. They will also eat flower beds and roses, and they like to jump on cars. Goats also like to eat whatever is on the OTHER side of the fence, no matter how much is on the inside.

Which Pets on Wheels are you looking for? I've tried getting in contact with the Charles Co. one but also never got a reply. Are you looking to do Therapy Pet visits? If so the Charles Co. Humane Society has a program.

It is the Charles County group that does visits in St Mary's where we are. Haven't heard a thing from them. Same thing with the Horse therapy group at Greenwell, called left a message two weeks ago never heard back. Here you have an experienced animal person willing to volunteer and no where to go. Maybe she should volunteer to answer the phones.

My dog and I are part of Pets on Wheels in St. Mary's. (We visit at Bayside.) Michael Capps runs the CC/St. Mary's group. PM me and I'll do my best to answer any questions you have.

I put a call into Michael Capps about 3 weeks ago and never heard back from him. I wanted to see if your group wanted to attend a large event my store is hosting June 29. There are approx 12 local animal rescue groups, CC Animal Control, Calvert K9 Search and Rescue Team, Pets with Disabilites, a mobile groomer, dog trainer and more! I was hoping to get someone from your group to talk to people about therapy dogs and what your group does.
Are you available on Sunday June 29?

Michael can be hard to get in touch with. I'm not sure I can "represent" Pets on Wheels since I don't run it, but I definitely could speak about therapy dogs and mention POW.

When you say your store, are you talking about Pepper's Pet Pantry? What is the timeframe on the 29th?

What is Pets on Wheels?

Pets on Wheels is a therapy animal organization that coordinates animal (dogs, cats, even a pot bellied pig, etc.) visits to local nursing homes. The animals need a health certificate and a temperment test.

Each week my dog, Cody, and I go to visit at Bayside (in Lex Park). Our chapter of POW covers St. Mary's and Charles counties.
