Nothing like giving parents notice....

So how does that work? Do parents get paid leave? Because they obviously can't leave their kids home alone. Do they have to scramble for daycare? And figure out how to pay for it?

I know that if, when my kids were in elementary school, the schools decided on a whim to shut down I'd have been panicking trying to figure out how I was going to work to support them. Or is everyone in PG on the dole and doesn't care?

Our granddaughter was taken out of public school kindergarten in mid Nov because of the teachings, and put in private Episcopal school to the tune of 20,000 a year. They are considering virtual, now. WTH. What a fricking mess hoax this has become. We can’t let this pandemic\poison vax thing happen, anymore. My fam is unvaxxed and will remain that way. Period. God bless the USA and the World. F Brandon, Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, Graham, Soros, Gates, etal.

The adjective virtual is used to describe something that exists in essence but not in actuality.

That means virtual learning is close to learning, but not real learning.

Not to mention that virtual learning adds to problems of parents that have to work at home, virtually. This whole mess is the KKK’‘s and NWO’s and swampy politicians last stand. They will not prevail. There are far more patriots. God bless the USA, and don’t forget that lock and load thing.

Well with the lock downs and social distancing ...... many office workers were able to work from hom

otherwise retail / restaurant employees were probably already at home fro shut downs - hence the great resignation

did any of your jobs REALLY require you be in the office to get them done ?

Fauci was on the news the other night saying we are all going to die. Next day Schols started putting out closure notices. Fauci needs to go.

Wait a minute here - if masks work and all students are required to wear masks in school then why is there an outbreak among kids in school that requires virtual learning?

HAHA

Since school started my daughters school has had to send out at least 8 covid alerts from positive tests

How long before others are to follow?

The thing that gets me is the PG county is one of the only ones in the country (yes) that is listed on the CDC website as a low transmission.

The only job I've ever had that didn't require me to leave my house is the one I have right now. Not everyone works at a computer all day, in fact most people don't.

The "County" may be "low transmission" (and how would they know since the tracking system has been down two weeks and nobody's heard of pencils, tablets and calculators) but the schools have multiple cases daily. At least the parents are reporting them to the schools.

That's what drove the shutdowns, the fact that some schools, especially elementaries, have 1/2 or 2/3 of their classes in quarantine status and doing on-line already.

My wife's job is mostly data crunching on the silicon pathways. She's been into the office for necessary face time only 9 or 10 times since this started.

In the Maryland Constitution, it spells out free schools will be provided. Yet nowhere does it provide for the standard of "education" of its students. Take its meaning for what its worth. Either it means local school boards determine what the standard of education is, or not. Which means that the best way to ensure a child's proper "education" is to home school, or send them to a well known and highly regarded private or parochial school.

CONSTITUTION OF MARYLAND
ARTICLE VIII
EDUCATION.
SECTION 1. The General Assembly, at its First Session after the adoption of this Constitution, shall by Law establish throughout the State a thorough and efficient System of Free Public Schools; and shall provide by taxation, or otherwise, for their maintenance.

Well, sort of.

Schools reflect the communities they serve. You have a school where the parents are serious about education and actually are parents then you usually have a high performing school. You have a school where the parents are themselves ill-educated and you'll usually have a school that has a whole range of problems. The biggest predictor of school success is parent income and education. The more middle class and higher the school population is the better your outcomes.

As far as "standards of education" there most certainly are ones imposed.

Maryland is a top down school control state. The standards that must be met are imposed by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) which has an appointed Board and Superintendent.

MSDE develops Voluntary State Curricula (VSC) for every required class and many electives. The VSCs really aren't voluntary as each school system has to adopt them, teach them and, for the tested ones, show progress in each one. School systems can't freelance with any course with a VSC and especially not one that falls under Common Core or PARCC (or whatever they're called now. The PR for Common Core was bad so states changed the name while keeping the standards).

Why do teachers unions hate children?

Because they're a bunch of corrupt grifters who are more interested in politics and lining their own pocket than education. Unions in general are more about graft than anything. They served a purpose at one point, but once they realized their power they - surprise - abused it.
