PGPD PGPD Arrests Suspect For Homicide In Riverdale

Homicide Unit detectives charged a man with murder in connection with the death of a woman inside of his Riverdale home. The suspect is 27-year-old Luel Adal of the 6300 block of 64th Avenue in Riverdale. He’s accused of killing 24-year-old Berhan Gebrekirstos. Her last known address was in Lanham. The victim and suspect were known to each other.
On July 25th, shortly before noon, patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 6300 block of 64th Avenue for the report of an injured person. When they arrived, they located Adal and the victim who was found suffering from trauma inside the apartment. She was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The motive remains under investigation. Adal is charged with first and second degree murder. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections awaiting a bond hearing.
