The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a man for the murder of his girlfriend inside of the suspect’s Capitol Heights home. The suspect is 30-year-old Devontae Gray of Capitol Heights. He’s charged with murdering 29-year-old Alexis Schuler of Washington, DC.
On January 18, 2025, the Metropolitan Police Department contacted the Prince George’s County Police Department for assistance in a missing persons investigation. Alexis Schuler had been reported missing to MPDC last week. As part of that investigation, on January 19, 2025, the Prince George’s County Police Department executed a search warrant at the home of Devontae Gray in the 700 block of Larchmont Avenue in the town of Capitol Heights. While inside of the house, PGPD detectives and evidence team and members of the Prince George’s County Fire Department were able to locate Schuler’s remains. Gray had taken extensive efforts to hide the victim’s body in his home. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner today determined the victim had been shot.
Gray was taken into custody at the scene. He has confessed to murdering Schuler. Preliminarily, detectives believe he killed the victim during a dispute. He is charged with first degree murder and related charges and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all murders that occur in the town of Capitol Heights.
