Rudy Lopez-Garcia

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect for a fatal shooting that occurred in Langley Park in 2023. The suspect is 33-year-old Rudy Lopez-Garcia of Hyattsville. He’s charged with the murder of 22-year-old Aristides Flores Rosales of Langley Park.

On June 10, 2023, at approximately 2:50 am, officers responded to the 8100 block of 14th Avenue for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located the victim inside of an apartment building suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A second adult male was also shot and survived his injuries.

In August of 2024, the PGPD’s Gun Crimes Unit arrested Lopez-Garcia in connection with an unrelated, non-fatal shooting. Following that arrest, detectives obtained a warrant to search the suspect’s home. During that search, two guns were located. One of those guns was linked to the murder of Rosales. After further investigation, on June 5, 2025, Homicide Unit detectives charged Lopez-Garcia with the 2023 murder.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect shot the victim after a dispute. They were not known to each other.

Lopez-Garcia is charged with first and second-degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
