PGPD PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in City of Bowie Homicide

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and arrested the suspect wanted for a fatal shooting that occurred in the city of Bowie on Saturday. The suspect is 18-year-old Marquet Holmes Jr. of the 1700 block of Forest Park Drive in District Heights. He’s charged with fatally shooting 17-year-old Joshua Salvador of Bowie.




On January 23, 2021, shortly before 4:00 pm, first responders received a 911 call regarding a shooting victim who was being driven to a hospital by friends. The SUV was located in the area of Route 50 and Rutland Road. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.



The preliminary investigation revealed the shooting occurred in the 6700 block of Laurel Bowie Road in Bowie. The victim and suspect were involved in an on-going dispute.




Holmes is charged with first and second degree murder and additional charges. A court commissioner ordered him held without bond at the Department of Corrections.



The Prince George’s County Police Departmentinvestigates all homicides that occur in the City of Bowie.
