PGPD PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in Langley Park Homicide

Detectives with the Homicide Unit identified and arrested the suspect responsible for fatally assaulting a man in Langley Park. The suspect is 22-year-old Edwin Salmeron-Gonzalez of 1700 block of Keokee Street in Langley Park. The victim is 34-year-old Cristian Montoya-Canales of Berwyn Heights.

On March 18th, at approximately 7:10 am, officers responded to the 1500 block of Merrimac Drive for a welfare check. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Montoya-Canales outside suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect are known to each other. The motive for the fatal assault remains under investigation.
