Detectives will be out canvassing a neighborhood this evening in hopes of generating information in a case of attempted sexual assault.

On August 14, at approximately 10:22pm, an adult female waved down one of our officers to report an assault near the intersection of Pennsylvania Ave and Walters Lane. The victim reported that while she was walking down Walters Lane, an unknown suspect grabbed her, dragged her into a wooded area and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim fought back. The suspect struck the victim several times causing minor injuries. The victim was able run out of the wooded area and flag down the officer. The suspect fled. The officer immediately broadcasted a lookout for the suspect and officers responded and began to canvass the area. A K-9 unit also assisted in the search. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and later released. The suspect got away.

Detectives will be canvassing in the area of Walters Lane and Lacona Street this evening at 7pm.

The suspect is described as a black male between 27 and 35 years old, 5’7”-5’9” tall, and weighing between 180-200 pounds. The suspect had shoulder-length dreadlocks and was wearing a white shirt, black cargo pants, black shoes, and glasses.
