The Homicide Unit is investigating what led to a domestic-related fatal shooting inside of a Lanham home late Friday night. The preliminary investigation revealed the deceased suspect shot and killed one woman and wounded a second woman. He then turned the weapon on himself. The deceased suspect is 54-year-old Kevin Darryl Ballard of the 9000 block of Walkerton Drive. The deceased victim is 23-year-old Tai Hilliard. Ballard was in a relationship with a relative of the deceased victim. All three lived in the home on Walkerton Drive.
On May 8th, at approximately 11:15 pm, officers responded to the residence for the report of a shooting. They located Ballard with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Hilliard was also located suffering from a gunshot wound. They were both pronounced deceased on the scene. The second shooting victim, another adult female, was rushed to a hospital for treatment. She remains hospitalized.
