The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that took place in Beltsville on November 3rd. The victim is 68-year-old William Mortfeld of Beltsville. He died on November 11th.
On November 3rd, at approximately 1:10 pm, patrol officers were called to the area of Montgomery Road and Wicomico Avenue for a collision involving two vehicles. Mortfeld, one of the drivers, was transported to a hospital for treatment. The second driver and his passenger did not require medical attention.
The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was travelling westbound on Montgomery Road. The other involved car was southbound on Wicomico Avenue. The two cars collided at the intersection. Investigators are working to determine what led to that collision.
