The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Wednesday night in Bladensburg. A passenger in one of the cars, 57-year-old Robert Kenneth Johnson of Clermont, FL, was killed.
On June 17th, at approximately 7:25 pm, officers responded to the 5300 block of Annapolis Road for a collision involving two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation revealed Johnson was a passenger in a car that was heading eastbound on Annapolis Road approaching 53rd Avenue. The second involved car was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Annapolis Road from 53th Avenue. For reasons that are under investigation, the driver making that left turn lost control of his car and collided with the car carrying Johnson. Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene. No one else involved in this collision suffered what appear to be life-threatening injuries.
