The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Brandywine. The victim is 53-year-old Kenneth Washington of H Street in Northeast, Washington DC.
On Friday, May 17th, at approximately 9:25 pm, patrol officers were called to Brandywine Road near Lee Acres Drive for a collision involving two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a Nissan was heading northbound on Brandywine Road when he, for reasons which remain under investigation, crossed the double yellow line and traveled into the southbound lanes and struck a Volkswagen. Washington was a passenger in the Nissan and was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Nissan sustained life-threatening injuries. There were three occupants in the Volkswagen. All three were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The driver of the Volkswagen suffered a non-life threatening injury. One of two passengers was seriously injured. The second passenger was uninjured.
