PGPD PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision Involving a Bicycle in City of Hyattsville

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a bicycle that occurred in the City of Hyattsville. The collision occurred on November 22nd. The bicyclist died of his injuries several days later. He is identified as 47-year-old Luciano Crespo Rodriguez of Bladensburg.

On November 22
nd, at approximately 11:45 pm, officers were called to the intersection of Queens Chapel Road and Hamilton Street for a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.

The preliminary investigation reveals Crespo Rodriguez was traveling southbound on Hamilton Street approaching the intersection of Queens Chapel Road.
His bicycle collided with the driver’s side of a vehicle that was going through the intersection on Queens Chapel Road. Preliminary, investigators believe Crespo Rodriguez did not stop at a red light at the intersection. He was rushed to a hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not hurt and remained on the scene.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all fatal collisions in the City of Hyattsville.
