The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. The deceased driver is 52-year-old Boyce Abney of Washington, DC.
On March 23, 2022, at approximately 9:20 am, officers responded to the 6600 block of Sisalbed Drive for a single-vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed Abney was driving southbound on Quarry Avenue approaching the intersection of Sisalbed Drive, when for reasons that are under investigation, he lost control of his car, left the roadway, and struck a tree. Abney was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. There were no other occupants in the car.
