The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a motorcycle collision in Suitland that occurred on September 1st. The motorcycle rider died of his injuries on September 19th. He is identified as 39-year-old Wesley Jones III of Temple Hills.
The preliminary investigation revealed that on September 1st, at approximately 10:30 pm, Jones was traveling westbound on Silver Hill Road in the right-turn-only lane approaching the intersection in the 4500 block of Silver Hill Road. As the light turned green, the driver of a Toyota sedan who was already in the intersection, pulled to the right in order to make way for an approaching emergency vehicle which had its lights and sirens activated. While doing so, Jones’ motorcycle collided with the right side of the Toyota. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries on September 19th. Both the driver and the passenger in the Toyota remained on the scene and were not injured.
