The Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred earlier this month in Brandywine. The involved-driver has since died of his injuries. The victim is 71-year-old Dwain David of Cheltenham.

On March 15th, at approximately 7:20 pm, officers responded to the 4900 block of Accokeek Road for a single-vehicle collision. David, the driver and only occupant in the vehicle, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed David was traveling eastbound on Accokeek Road approaching Danville Road. For reasons that are under investigation, his SUV left the roadway and ultimately overturned in a wooded area.
