The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Oxon Hill on Sunday. The decedent is 47-year-old Jason Haftl of Iron Bark Court in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
On February 17th, at approximately 11:15 pm, patrol officers responded to the 6100 block of Oxon Hill Road for a crash involving two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation reveals Haftl was heading westbound on Oxon Hill Road when he made a left turn into the path of an oncoming SUV that was traveling eastbound. The SUV’s driver attempted to swerve to avoid the car, but the vehicles collided. The driver of the SUV was an off-duty police officer with an outside agency. He was driving a marked cruiser. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Haftl was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
