PGPD PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal four-vehicle collision that occurred in Laurel on Saturday. The deceased driver of one of the involved vehicles is 23- 23-year-old Justin Smith of Upper Marlboro, MD.

On June 1, 2024, at approximately 7:15 pm, officers responded to a collision in the 11000 block of Laurel Bowie Road involving four vehicles. Smith was pronounced on scene. A passenger of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The injuries of the other involved drivers and passengers sustained were not considered life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation revealed Smith struck a guardrail on the northbound lane of Laurel Bowie Road. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
