PGPD PGPD Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrian

The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred Saturday night in Landover. The deceased pedestrian is 32-year-old Ronald Wiggins of Washington, DC. The driver of the striking vehicle did not remain on the scene. Efforts continue to identify the driver.

On December 11, 2021, at approximately 10:25 pm, patrol officers were called to Landover Road near Pinebrook Avenue for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was traveling southbound on Landover Road approaching Pinebrook Avenue. The driver struck the pedestrian, who for reasons that remain under investigation, was in the roadway at the time. Mr. Wiggins was taken to an area hospital where he died a short time later.

The striking vehicle is described as a red two-door Nissan
350Z or 370Z with damage to the front-end.
