The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Thursday night in District Heights. The deceased pedestrian is 39-year-old Dewayne Chisholm of Washington, DC.

On June 4th, at approximately 8:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5500 block of Marlboro Pike for a pedestrian collision. Chisholm was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Chisholm had attempted to cross the roadway when, according to witnesses, he fell down in the street. That’s when he was struck by a car. The driver who struck Chisholm initially did not remain on the scene. A short time later, a patrol officer observed the striking vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
The investigation has further revealed the victim was not in a crosswalk when attempting to cross Marlboro Pike.
