PGPD PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in New Carrollton

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in New Carrollton Friday night. The deceased pedestrian is 58-year-old Anthony Charleton of New Carrollton.

On April 15, 2022, at approximately 11:50 pm, officers responded to a pedestrian collision in the 8400 block of Annapolis Road. Once on scene, they discovered Charleton unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Charleton was struck by two vehicles as he attempted to cross Annapolis Road.
Preliminarily, it appears that the first vehicle struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross the roadway. The pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle while lying in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The first driver remained on scene and was not injured. The driver of the second vehicle has been identified and located.
