The Prince Georges County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred over the weekend in Oxon Hill. The victim is identified as 34-year-old Jose Miguel of Rockville.
On September 21st, at approximately 8:30 am, patrol officers responded to the southbound ramp of I-295 and southbound Indian Head Highway for a vehicle collision involving two pedestrians. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered Miguel and another man suffering from critical injuries after being hit by a car.
The preliminary investigation revealed that both men were outside at the end of the I-295 exit ramp attempting to repair their broken-down truck on the shoulder. As two cars were approaching the end of the exit ramp, the first one swerved to avoid the men and their truck but the second car was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into both men and their truck.
The driver of the striking car remained on the scene and had minor injuries.
Both Miguel and the second victim suffered critical injuries and were transported to an area hospital where Miguel later died of his injuries.
