PGPD PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in the Town of Morningside

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into a fatal shooting this weekend in the town of Morningside. The decedent is 38-year-old Joseph Holtz of Suitland.

On October 26, 2024, at approximately 12:50 am, Morningside Police officers and Prince George’s County Police officers responded to a shooting that occurred shortly after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Suitland Road and Randolph Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed the shooting occurred after the crash. Holtz was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Two guns were recovered at the scene. Investigators have identified all parties involved in this incident and are in consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding this investigation. At this time, there are no charges against any of those involved.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all fatal shootings in the town of Morningside.
