Phendimetrazine for weight loss

Club'nBabySeals

Where are my pants?
Has anyone here had experience taking Phendimetrazine (which is available by prescription only) for weight loss? Did you experience any major side effects?

I know it's an amphetamine, so I'm concerned about palpitations, jitters, and escalated blood pressure mainly.

Most importantly, though...Did it work?

Thanks.

I have used Fastin, I had chest pains with Fastin so I had to stop. And I tried Tenuate also, got decent weight loss with it, 20 lbs in 4 months this was atleast 5 years ago or more, had to stop because I got pregnant.

I have currently lost 30 lbs+ since March 07 without any pills.

Good luck.

What's the brand name?

None, yet.

I went to my doctor to talk to him about options, and this was one of the ones that he said he would recommend for me. I told him that I wanted to do a bit more research on my own before filling any prescriptions.

Pills as a method toward weight loss is not something I have ever considered before---but more than two years after having my daughter, despite routine exercise and a carefully controlled diet, I am still 30 lbs. heavier than I should be. I figure it's time to try something new.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

No problem. I have about 40 lbs to lose and that's based on the higher end of my ideal body weight for my height.

How is your diet?

I'm not sure if you were asking me or MissHelper, but...

I have a personal trainer/nutritionist at my gym who has me on a low carb diet that mirrors something a diabetic would have to stick to. I've been on it for almost a year now, and have lost 15lbs. doing that and exercise alone.

The process may be healthy, but it's just taking too long for my tastes. I'm tired of being fat...been there, done that, got the t-shirt (in size XL).

I took it and lost 40 pounds. I did great with it - no side effects at all just having to buy new jeans!!!!

Did you have any side affects using it?

Phendimetrazine is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually.

I didn't know it was permitted.

Years ago during the Phen-phen thing, my doctor prescribed a different cocktail - instead of fenfluramine/dexfenfluramine, he prescribe phendimetrazine/phentermine in addition to a high-fiber/low fat diet, monthly visits and very close oversight of my intake. It worked great for me - lost about 40-50 pounds (which I eventually gained back anyway, after I was done with the drugs), but phentermine ALWAYS makes me jittery, depressed and moody.

I was somehow under the impression that phendimetrazine was no longer permitted by law. Of course, the last time I asked for a prescription, my doctor at the time was against any kind of medical intervention for obesity or weight loss.

I'm for anything that works, although even as a beneificiary of gastric bypass surgery, I can assure you, nothing is foolproof, and without some long term change, you'll never keep weight off.

I hate the fact that there are some who insist the only acceptable means of weight loss is simply diet and exercise. Many people who are obese have turned a corner where suffiicient exercise is too much strain on an already overstrained body. For some of us, that answer means it will take longer than we might have left to live.
