My memory of him was right after the 9/11 attacks he had Bernie Goldberg on his show. Some audience girl said how horrible the Right is because they took old footage and claimed it was present day Muslims cheering the collapse of the WTC. Phil tried to move on, but Bernie corrected her, saying that was in fact contemporary footage. Dembot stood there shaking her head like a stubborn child, so Bernie said, "Phil, tell her when that footage was shot." And Phil flustered, dodged, and went to commercial, and they never picked it back up.

So my image of him is as a liar and propagandist, not a responsible or respected journalist.

She's always had that weird voice - it's what made her so memorable in the 60's.

I saw that show, where she appeared as a guest - it was obvious to everyone who saw it what would result.

I have to hand it to them both for staying together all the way to the end. The only thing that surprised me was - unless I am mistaken, Phil was her first and only marriage, and she married him - at 42. She had been involved with Herb Gardner for a long time, but they didn't marry.
