My land phone line has been unusable since Ernesto. Anybody else having this problem still? I live off Flat Iron. Verizon is saying it is our house and not them, but I've heard others say they have had probs. Anybody had this problem and had it fixed? I need some input so I don't get charged for a service call.

My problem is not yet fixed but they are coming to look at it on their time/money. I told them that an inside tech already came to my residence and said it was an "outside" problem. All outside problems are on Verizon as far as $$$ goes. Apparently one hand doesn't wash the other as they had no idea whether an "inside" Verizon tech had been to my house. Best route to go but if it does turn out to be a problem within your home it is coming out of your pocket. Good luck.

They came out once

I agree with their outside vs inside plan, but why is it that SO many people I am talking to describe the same problem and it magically is inside our house? What could have possibly gone wrong with all of our inside wirings? I don't expect anybody to be able to answer that, but it just doesn't add up. We all seem to have the same probs- static on the line where we can't hear, or no dial tone, etc.

Any phone electricians around to answer this? LOL

We had problems with ours, strangely, right after Ernesto. I took a corded phone out to the box and hooked it up, and the line was still screwed up. Tech finally came out Monday and the problem was the hookup inside the box on the side of the house. He replaced it and, viola, no more problems.
