ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today delivered the keynote address at the Korea-U.S. Investment Forum in National Harbor, which is held in conjunction with the SelectUSA Investment Summit. At the forum, which is held for Korean companies exploring direct investment in the United States, the governor touted the state’s special bond with the Korean people, and announced that he will be leading an economic development mission to Korea in September.
“In Maryland, we are proud to have a very special bond with Korea, and we truly appreciate our enduring ties of alliance and friendship,” said Governor Hogan. “The State of Maryland truly is open for business and we will continue to do everything in our power to do more business with our friends in Korea. We are ready to provide a soft landing for companies that want to explore the market, make connections, and build relationships with American businesses.”
During his remarks, the governor recognized First Lady Yumi Hogan, and recognized her leadership in strengthening the state’s bonds with Korea, including the recent opening of a new Koreatown in Ellicott City.
The governor also highlighted the state’s commitment to help build a new Wall of Remembrance at the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the signing of a new cooperative agreement last year between Maryland and the Korean SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) to help new Korean companies explore the U.S. market.
Korean Ambassador to the United States Cho Tae-yong and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo also spoke at the event.
