ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today delivered remarks at the 2019 Environmental Business Leadership Conference in Baltimore, Md. The conference brought together leading business and public sector entities that are focused on the latest innovative practices and trends in environmental protection and enhancement.

“For four years now our state has been leading the charge when it comes to real, bipartisan, common sense solutions and we are proud to be setting an example for the nation of strong environmental leadership,” said Governor Hogan. “Our administration remains strongly committed to meaningful and innovative policies and programs that protect our environment in a manner that also promotes job growth and economic opportunity.”

Governor Hogan was joined by Ben Grumbles, Secretary, Maryland Department of the Environment; Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, Secretary, Maryland Department of Natural Resources; Kenneth C. Holt, Secretary, Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development; Robert S. McCord, Secretary, Maryland Department of Planning; Roy McGrath, Director/CEO, Maryland Environmental Service, and Kelly M. Schulz, Secretary, Maryland Department of Commerce.

During the two-day conference, attendees identified opportunities across segments of the environmental business industries, discovering cutting-edge practices that make business sense, and built strategic connections with regional and national leaders across the $400 billion national environmental business sector, including solid waste management and recycling, composting, renewable energy, and water and wastewater reuse.

Under Governor Hogan’s leadership, Maryland has become a national leader in environmental best practices that make business sense.
