Highlights Continued Support for Maryland Farmers and Producers
ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today visited the 140th Maryland State Fair in Timonium and spoke to farmers and producers at the annual Ag Day Luncheon.
“Far too often, our farmers don’t get the respect or appreciation that they deserve, but I want our entire Ag community to know that your commitment to our state, and to our Ag industry, does not go unappreciated,” said Governor Hogan. “Your drive, character, work ethic, and resilience during tough times has been an inspiration to me and is so important to all Marylanders.”
The Maryland State Fair makes its return this year after being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last May, the fairgrounds were converted into one of the state’s first drive-thru COVID-19 testing facilities.
During the Ag Day Luncheon, Governor Hogan highlighted efforts to support Maryland farmers and producers. The state has provided nearly $5 million to over 1,300 farm families through the Maryland Farmer COVID-19 Relief Program.
Maryland’s GoVAX Mobile Summer Tour is providing vaccinations to fair visitors through Sept. 6. The vaccination clinic is located in the Exhibition Hall and will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day.
