Does any one know where there is a good spot to photograph bald eagles? I have seen several flying but way out of range for my gear. I am planning take my daughter out for her first photo outing this weekend and thought it would be cool subject for her to photograph.

They are everywhere. Go around the water and inlets towards point lookout, or any other area close to the water. Conowingo dam above Baltimore is a great spot.

What camera gear do you have?

Every day I see them out my window at work. Flying over the bay. I wish I could take picture but I have to work.

It would have helped if you mentioned where you're at and/or where you'd be willing to go.

Most of the previous suggestions are for SMC, but if you're up to hit central-western Chuck Co., I suggest Friendship Landing.
DNR said:
U.S. Route 301 to La Plata, west on MD Route 6 (Port Tobacco Road) to Durham Church Road. This ends up at the boat ramps at Friendship Landing.

For the canoeist, or small boater, the creek offers miles of scenic marshes which abound with wildlife. The winding creek with many high banks offer protection from strong winds and are nesting sites for the Bald Eagles who call Nanjemoy their home.
Their description is not quite complete, as Friendship Landing Rd. is off 425 (Ironsides Rd.).

I have seen several flying but way out of range for my gear.
Better have a good zoom/telephoto...

In Wicomoco Shores down near the water where there used to be woods we had nesting eagles. Of course now that there are a shiat load of houses there and no woods, no more eagles. Pisses me off! :cds:

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! To answers the questions for me first I am willing to go anywhere in the tri-count southern Maryland area. Second the gear that I have is a Canon 30D with my primary lense being 28-135mm but I have access to 70-200mm and a 100-400mm.

Previously you said they were "way out of range" of your gear. So what were you using then? I would think anything less than 300 or 400mm would not work well, unless, of course, you're especially close - which is not advisable.

When I say they are out of the range of my gear I mean that unless I have planned a day shoot the only lense I have is my 28-135. If I plan a day shoot I borrow the 70-200mm and/or the 100-400mm from a friend of mine. Which I plan to borrow 100-400mm when I try some of the suggested areas.

There is a nest somewhere at the top of cliffs in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates, I've seen them flying there at the beach. But if you don't live there I'm not sure you could find a place to park and get good pictures. They do fly low enough to get good pictures here and sometimes skim the water.
