Why not a point blank shot between the eyes...fast ..that is how I thought they did it..
We did that too, but if by some miracle they were still fluttering then yeah thats what we did...sounds like you and I could work start our own deli :lmao:

what everyone is forgetting here is that the pig wasnt simply point blank shot and killed and THEN left to bleed out. the pig was comletlely alive, and can feel every bit of that pain for the last few MINTUTES of its death. There is no reason why our kids in the neighborhood have to wonder onto this channel and see a pig screaming and shaking on the ground with a bullit hole or a stab wound to the chest. Most people with a heart kill the animal first then let it bleed out. it was a horrible thing to see and i will be complainng to anyone who will listen. dont like me for my views, tell it to someone who cares, it should never have found its way on to a channel for our local county
Well - how in the hell do you think it is done in a slaughter house?? They don't shoot them with .22's behind the ears... they are either stunned with electricity or gas - sounds like they were electrically stunned - yes, they will make noise. BTW - they are suppose to be bled out or the meat will spoil - read the lat paragraph...

Pig Slaughter

:gossip: There aren't any pictures, just words...

Public access shows all kinds of stuff - complain to the FCC - you are barking up the wrong tree... Join PETA - they will help you out!

Pigs are shot with a captive bolt and then bled out. If done properly, the pig is unconscious until it bleeds out.

Pigs skull is tough - if it did not stun them it would piss them off and then you have problems...

Either a .22 behind the ear or a bang stick/electrical pads to stun them... never shoot between the eyes - you would need a larger caliber and it would kill them instantly... once they are stunned you slit the throat or chest for a bleed out...

Even the .22 does not kill them, it just stuns them... they are still alive when they are bled out.

One of my professors (I swear the man knows everything there is to know about pigs) did a study where they had to collect blood from the pigs every day. He trained the pigs to stand still to let him stick a 3" long needle in their neck. He rewarded them with orange or grape soda. He didn't have to restrain them at all.

Wee has free roam..he has NO field...He goes from barn to barn over a dirt road..or comes to the house...one year he went to the small barn (which he has no real "bed" straw etc..) and it sleeted really bad..the road was like a sheet of ice..I wanted him to go to the big barn for the night so he would be warm..I know the neighbors thought I was killing him trying to drag him over that icy road and to the other barn so he would be warm for the night...

Back up to a little pig living in the house..he would go out and pee and come in ..you would have to pick up the dog food so he would not gorge himself..he could come in run UNDER the kitchen table to beat you to the other side and get a bite before you picked up the bowl..they when you got it he would get mad and throw the kitchen chairs all around..that summer he learned about "MUD PUDDLES" he never got back in the house..he would come in and bee line for the dog food and then go lay on the couch and dare you to make him get off...sounded like you were killing him if you wanted him to move so you could sit down...I have pics if I can find them..he is 8 now so that was a while back
