Pile driving prices

MAYBE next year we are weighing putting in a cottage (on pilings) in an area that is prone to hurricane flooding. I am very curious HOW piling companies come up with their prices. Depth...Size of Piling...Type of piling...Ease of access--I KNOW all those factors have to be considered. Any testimonies out there regarding piling companies and general ideas what to expect? Our site is on sandy ground with a silt/clay base...NOT a dock, or on marsh land. Sometimes you have to KNOW what are the best questions to ask! Price per piling?

Probably in the neighborhood of $60-$80/ft. for a steel H pile. Upwards of $160-$180 for steel pipe piles.

FEMA has cost breakdowns for foundation costs based on sq ft of the foundation. Everything from timber to concrete piles.
