Pit passes

OK, I have a cousin that is a Sprint Cup team owner/crew chief. I am getting "hot" pit passes for the Richmond race. I have been to many races but never to the pits. I guess the "hot" passes are for being in the pit area for the race. Anybody ever have them? What can I expect? Thanks!

Don't know about Richmond, but I had hot pit passes for Bristol a few years back.

It is awesome. Yes, you are right in the middle of things during the race, just steps away from the pits. Be prepared tho, because unless there is an underground egress, once the race is underway, you're there for the duration.

Hot passes mean you can go just about anywhere at any time. Cold passes let you go anywhere but only during certain times. Sounds like you're going to have a fun time. :yay:

What Team ????

FAS Lane Racing. OxyWater. Timmy Hill shares driving with Terry Labonte and Ken Schrader. A small team but they usually seem to finish (not last week!). Frank Stoddard was Jeff Burton and Ward Burton's crew chief. He is a good crew chief but small team means small budget. I hope he gets a good break. Family aside, I have always admired the small guy that stays out there and just plugs away for the love of racing.

 Good Luck on a good finish ! I would include a Top 5 finish or a WIN , but neither of those drivers are in my usual SOMD NASCAR top 5 picks. :buddies:

Frank Stoddart is the man. My favorite Winston Select memory: One year, during The Winston Select, they had a rule about pit stops and you had to pit during the first segment. Well, they come to the white flag and Jeff Burton hasn't pitted. Everyone's shocked. Ol' Frankie has the plan to have him pit on the last lap, since he was only a couple hundred feet away from the start/finish line, and just drive the couple hundred feet at pit road speed to win the segment instead of having to drive down all of pit road at pit road speed. It was bloody brilliant. And, man, NASCAR was ticked off something awful.

Needless to say, by the time Monday rolled around, there was a new rule about pit stops :killingme

Timmy's a good guy. A local boy, if you didn't know that already. He's from Port Tobacco.

I saw that. First the announcers thought he blew an engine if I remember it right.

NASCAR was only half ticked off compared to all the other teams/crew chiefs.:tantrum

Didn't Junior Johnson say "If you ain't cheatin', you ain't doin' your job".:roflmao:

Update on my pit passes. They are good for Friday practice and qualifying and Saturdays race. Frank will give me a tour of the pits and show me the do's and don't's of what to do during all of the events. Possibly get provided with team headsets. I am really excited to get to do this.

Okay, I have ruined my NASCAR experience. Watching a race on TV or from the stands will forever be mundane. After being in the garage area all day Friday and in the pits for practice and qualifying and then on top of the pit box for the entire race on Saturday no race will ever approach the experience I had. I have to do that again!!!!!

sounds like you had a lifetime experience and hopefully your able to have again :buddies: My live long dream is to sit behind the wheel of the HomeDepot #20 car . IF I can accomplish that , watch the O's WIN another World Championship , I'll die a happy old man . Last year the Ravens WINNING another Super Bowl answered one of my wishes before I die
