Exodus 9:1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, so that they may worship me.” 2 If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back, 3 the hand of the Lord will bring a terrible plague on your livestock in the field—on your horses, donkeys and camels and on your cattle, sheep and goats. 4 But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
5 The Lord set a time and said, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this in the land.” 6 And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died. 7 Pharaoh investigated and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart was unyielding and he would not let the people go.
Here's the link to the commentary I use.

All the livestock of Egypt died: This plague was directed against the Egyptian god Hathor who was thought to be a mother goddess was in the form of a cow. In addition, Egyptian religion considered cattle sacred and the cow was often a symbol of fertility. God shows Pharaoh and all of Egypt that He was mightier than this imagined pagan god.

The Pharaoh sent, and indeed, not even one of the livestock of the Israelites was dead: Moses told Pharaoh that the Israelites would be spared, and Pharaoh believed it enough to confirm this. Nevertheless, he did not change his heart when it was proven that Moses and his God were exactly right.
The Israelites lived in the Land of Goshen. In that area, all the livestock was ok.

Yesterday I read that the flies didn't bother the Land of Goshen where the Israelites lived [Exodus 8:22-23].

All the people, and all the livestock in Egypt, except in the Land of Goshen, had to be all pocked up with fly bites.

Flies carry disease. The disease from the flies killed all the livestock.

The flies, however, were not in the Land of Goshen where the Israelites lived.

Check out verse 7. Pharaoh had an investigation into the matter and no livestock in the Land of Goshen was bothered by the flies. Not one of the Israeli livestock was sick.

Can you imagine what would happen if all of a sudden, all the cattle in Texas were swarmed by flies and died, while all the livestock in Arkansas were perfectly fine? Would there be an inquiry?

Do you think it would make the news?
