Hello all,

I am the friend of a senior male in Somd. He recently went through very tough times and has severe depression and anxiety. He is alone every night.

What kind of activities are available for seniors in somd, especially at night? Also, are there any places or sites to find companions, not necessarily for dating?

Thanks all

The senior centers have stuff going on every day almost. Check out the Somd.com community calendar - they just posted a bunch of activities.

I went to the senior center in Lusby yesterday for a small craft show and there are all kinds of activities going on there. I went through the "orientation" awhile back to be able to use the exercise equipment and was very impressed!

I think if I was a senior and alone, I would first try a church.
My grandfather did that decades ago and he became sort of the whole church's granddad.

The next would be fraternal thing like Moose or Elk or Lion.

Yes, indeed. The post made mention of senior citizens having a plethora of conversations totally unrelated to the topic at hand. I was merely augmenting by demonstration the exact scenario. Did I ever mention the time my 30 pound barrel of finishing nails fell out of my stepvan on Rt 1 in Lorton?

Okay, let me try to atone.
"Festivus for the rest of us" was a segment on a TV show, Seinfeld wherein George Costanza's father, (jerry Stiller) was frustrated with the commercialism of Christmas so he made up a holiday, "Festivus". During the event, he would allow participants to "air their grievances" with others.

In a poorly received parody I did the same. It was meaningless. Sorry.

I got it immediately and I think your airing of grievances was in keeping with the holiday.
