I am a 58 year old woman, married and I have Lupus. We have livred here just under 2 years. My husband is great and he works very hard. But I am slipping deeper and deeper into depression. All the doctor's want to do is give me different pulls, which does nothing to hlep with the problem. You see, I'm just looking for a friend. Someone who shares some of my interests that I cna talk to or maybe go shopping with. I have no family nearby and, although I can drive, I have no vehicle. In the last two years I spend most of my time takking to my two cats. I have kids and grandkids, but they are all several hours drive from here. I'm not some kook, I just need someone to talk to. Thanks :ohwell:

Thanks

I live in St. Mary's County in the Valley Lee Area out near Piney Point and Tall Timbers. I can get around most days, sometimes I need to use a walker. I like to play cards and board games, read books, watch old movies, do most kinds of needlecrafts. I would be willing to help ohters learn, but don't think I could commit to a full time thing. Thank you for your quick response. It's nice to know that someone is out there. And maybe I too am a bit of a kook, just a harmless one.

Well, I'm in northern St Mary's but work in DC. I personally would love to learn more about needlework. I have become a bit of a fiend with it lately since stopping smoking. However, I wouldn't be able to get down to see you as often as you may like.

BUT, as long as you can get online, chat away. Take everything with a grain of salt though, don't believe everything you read. :lmao:

I also think Catt's answer was a good direction as well.

:huggy: :flowers:

Perhaps you might consider the Auxillary of the SDVFDRS in Valley Lee? They dont require a full time commitment, they do a great deal for the Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, and are always looking for help. Your illness would not be a disqualifier, they have members who are handicapped, and are still active members who participate and help.

I am too in your situation. I don't get out very often and have been in a funk since my best friend moved to Washington state. That was 7 yrs. ago! The pills haven't done anything for me either. I just recently started making friends again with my neighbors and one of the ladies has lived here for 4 yrs. I am forcing myself to get out of this, it is not healthy for me to stay shut up in this house 24/7 like I have been. So your not alone. I also have been talking to my kitties for far too long! :lmao: This forum helps me a lot, it cheers me up a lot because there is usually something funny going on. Keep checking here on a regular basis and don't be shy speak up. It helps! Good Luck! :huggy:

You'll make lots of friends here but be forewarned....it's addictive. Welcome. :howdy:

Why can I see only two of your 7 posts? You must be an MPD that was in a private forum previously. :elaine:
