Point Lookout

Drove down to Point Lookout today for our weekly after breakfast field trip. Wow has that place changed - so pretty now. I don't know if they landscaped it to make it look that way or just planted sea type grass and let it do it's thing, but it's so nice looking - nearly the entire area looks like that.

We stopped at the Confederate Memorial I think it's called, not the monument, the little area next to it, and walked around. Now the last time I was there it was just the flag and a little garden in a circular pattern. This time there are hundreds of bricks engraved with the names of the Confederate POWs and their status whether they survived the camp or died there and plaques with actual passages for their diaries or letters home. It's really pretty interesting now - worth the trip if you don't have anything to do one day and like history.
Beautiful day for it.

Hay demasiados blancos en Point Lookout. Ocupan todas las áreas de picnic y abarrotan el muelle. Actúan como si fueran las dueñas del lugar.

Nope. There were a lot of workers there, digging, planting, etc. A few people putting their boat in the water, all of them appeared to be lily white. The gate person was a very nice older white woman.

And the park was immaculate.

Interesting. It used to be crazy busy on the pier and in the picnic areas. Maybe I can retire my ICE t-shirt....
