RICHMOND, Va. -- An 82-year-old Henrico County woman is charged with animal cruelty and gun counts after police said she shot and killed her own dog.
Police said Rosella Wooldridge used a 38-caliber revolver to shoot the dog. A Henrico County Police spokesman said Wooldridge was upset that the dog had been running away.
The spokesman said that when an officer approached Wooldridge on Monday to investigate a report of shots being fired, she threw the gun and tried to outrun the officer.
Police said Wooldridge has been charged with animal cruelty and shooting a firearm in a public place.
